Changing the retail conversation

A major outdoor retailer was starting to question whether the partnership was pulling its weight. Instead of walking in with another product line review, we focused on the customer instead of categories.

We pulled together consumer insights, industry research and everything we knew about the retailer's business, then rebuilt the assortment story around real people, by generation and gender. We made these insights visual, with outfit laydowns showing how the product worked together on the retailer's floor, and turned the meeting into a collaboration instead of a static, slide-by-slide pitch.

RESULT: +18.5% above annual sales goal

Bringing the story to the sales floor

A new product launch was a chance to do more than get product on shelves. The retailer's associates needed to actually understand it, believe in it, and feel confident selling it.

We brought Sales, Product, IT, Marketing/Events and the retailer's own team together to build a live training and Q&A session. We recorded it so associates who couldn't make it live could still get the same experience. The retailer liked it enough to fold it permanently into their footwear associate education, well past the original launch.

RESULT: 100 door expansion following the launch

Turning around a quietly eroding margin

Inventory was tight across the industry, but we were sitting in a stronger position than most. We used that as an opportunity to dig into the P&L to find out where our margin dollars were leaking. One product jumped out. It was underperforming against comparable accounts and dragging the whole line down with it.

Rather than discontinue or work around it, we went back to the product team and rebuilt it: new colorways, a refreshed look, and a next generation version launched alongside an updated pricing model that fixed the margin problem at the source instead of masking it.

RESULT: +2.6% margin dollar growth and +2.9% operation income growth

Taking social media from static to scroll-stopping

The organization had a compelling offering that begged for visual storytelling, but their social media content was infrequent, static, and lacked a cohesive look and voice. We developed an email and social media campaign that brought their story to life through video, interactive content, and channel-specific creative for a more consistent experience that gave the audience more reasons to follow and engage.

We also created flexible templates for social posts and email blasts, making it easy for the team to keep communication steady and on-brand long after the initial campaign. The approach paid off immediately, with explosive growth the first month for social media reach, interactions, and followers, and the ability to post consistently led to steady growth month after month.

RESULT: 10X more social media interactions & 15X audience reach

A website overhaul without the overhead

A website overhaul without the overhead

An organization knew its website needed a refresh, but didn't have the internal capacity or capability to keep up with the content and creative demands of a full redesign. Bringing in a traditional agency would have meant a significant investment, not just in budget, but in endless meetings, feedback rounds, and content creation.

We took the existing content and repurposed it strategically along with fresh graphics and design without requiring the client to provide any direction beyond the initial kickoff. We also reworked the site structure and code with search performance in mind, making it easier for search engines to crawl and rank the site. The result was a site that was easier for the organization to maintain and a far more engaging user experience, and the entire overhaul was completed in under a month‍. ‍

RESULT: 10X monthly unique visitors & 2X Google PageRank score across mobile & desktop

Making retail marketing dollars work harder

A major outdoor retailer offered a high-profile seasonal marketing package, but the price tag was steep. Rather than treat it as a fixed cost, we looked at the bigger picture: how could this investment do double duty, supporting the immediate moment and setting up a strategic product launch?

Through negotiation, we cut the investment by 40% while adding more value on top, including social support and product placement in the retailer's own promotional materials. We redirected the savings toward launching a new product, and that placement-built momentum straight into the next season, including a 10% increase in the new product's buy year over year.

RESULT: $105K in additional marketing value negotiated
